Dawn till Dusk

Welcome to another update of the maintenance Blog.
Following on from the last instalment, the tees are making a very good recovery from renovations, justifying the decision to postpone the work till warmer conditions could hasten the recovery process.

Getting a headstart at 4.30am with alot of work to get through, met with a nice sunrise.
and no we don't start at 4.30am so players can also arrive, the course opens at 6.45am the early starts are critical for staff to attend certain duties without worry of players of which we contend with for the rest of the day.

Tees were scarified and cleaned off

one tee picked up 17 more double tees to go.

Cut down to 5mm with the old walk behind
Solid cored

and sanded
Some tees like the 10th great wall of Capel can't be sanded with the spreader.
So it was synchronised sanding

The sand was rubbed in, all tees fertilised ready for recovery.
2 weeks later
they are coming back nicely and with 2 weeks to the open should be in good nick..

During the tee renovations we also spent time fertilising all fairways
Had some help checking Sprinkler operation
What's that Puddles? it needs a new gear you say ? Ok.

It wasn't all smooth sailing, we noticed the tractor clutch slipping which adjusting was not rectifying, which meant the loader had to come off,
the tractor split in half and the clutch replaced.
Many thanks to Peter Robbins assisted by Ben for saving the club a considerable amount of $$ doing the work.

Finally after some long days was time to lock up
checking the last of the sprinklers on the way out.
Working from dawn till dusk!

As this will be the last of the maintenance updates for the year, on behalf of the course staff, I would like to wish all our members, directors, management, fellow staff and most importantly the wonderful volunteers a very peaceful and happy Xmas and New Year.
May your santa sacks be full of balls
Your drives long and straight.

Till next time
Happy Hooking
