December 2025

Hello and Welcome to the early December Course Update

Greens have made a full recovery from renovations and are now at 3mm summer heights with strong healthy growth.

There remain some small areas to fill in where disease scaring and or herbicide application took out more than anticipated, these areas are growing in.

Growth regulation hence ball roll improvement will commence within the next 2 weeks.

We are taking a more aggressive approach to saltine contamination in selected greens, some chlorotic patches will appear where saltine is being treated. In hot weather, 30plus, some areas of the greens may appear unthrifty and dry as a result of herbicide applications, this will be ongoing through summer to disrupt the saltine growth pattern and encourage bent grass to gradually fill in the contaminated areas. No impact to ball roll is expected and will mainly be appearance of which we will attempt masking with pigments in due course if required.

Warm season grass area of Tees, Fairways and surrounds continue to slowly recover from renovations. Unfortunately, due to the mild weather conditions, soil temperatures have remained a great deal lower than normal for the time of year, this has slowed recovery growth, once temperatures rise, growth recovery will kick in.

To assist with this, a 2nd application of wetting agents prior to summer and the 2nd application of granular fertiliser will be applied slightly earlier than planned.

1st cut areas are responding to extra attention and treatment.

All Bunkers will be edged and faced this 4-week period.

The 4th right side far entry / exit bunker edge near the men’s path will be modified by increasing the bank slope degree further out, and the start of the path shortened to remove the puddling and poor growth area presently experienced. The area will then be turfed.

Extra sand will be loaded into the 13th left and 6th bunker as time permits over the Xmas period.

Irrigation testing and remedial action continues through this month and now will continue through the irrigation season. Sprinklers may be running through the day for short as we test we apologise if this causes some minor disruption and appreciate your understanding regarding this important ongoing maintenance.

A final thought as we head into the hotter months, hydration is very important, some players prefer their liquid in the form alcohol beverages, just a reminder please do not take your drinks onto the greens, placing them on the turf, spilled drinks can kill turf specially on a hot day, as the picture shows. Keep your drinks on your buggy please.

Thankyou and till next time

Happy Hooking
